Denis Flageollet elevates watchmaking into art, placing emotion and beauty center stage. Inspired by the Great Masters, he sculpts contemporary pieces destined for timelessness. For him, tomorrow’s horology is imagined and reborn every day.
A Vision of Avant-Garde
The Dream Watch embodies the culmination of this quest, a radical exercise in exploring shapes, materials, and colors. Its refined design is built around a domed deltoid motif, a major aesthetic signature of the collection and, more broadly, of De Bethune. With the Dream Watch, watchmaking crosses a new frontier, where mechanical prowess meets artistic expression.
An architectural fusion of space, time, and light, this creation is a seamless interplay of matte, polished, and brushed finishes, sculpted in platinum. It perpetually dances with light and shadow, echoing the hieroglyphic principles invented by the Egyptians. Through the dial, a silicon ring-shaped balance wheel conceals the hairspring, creating a unique mirror effect in watchmaking. On the back, an individualized adjustment system alloys the wearer to regulate the watch’s rhythm with a simple push of a button. The innovation extends further with specially designed cushioned mobile lugs, ensuring unparalleled comfort on the wrist.
A precursor to several iconic De Bethune watches, the Dream Watch 2, launched alongside the DW1, introduced stylistic and technical innovations drawn from the brand’s research into pioneering materials, such as the thermo-compensated silicon and platinum balance wheel. It stands out with its unconventional case design featuring a crown at six o’clock and mobile lugs—an idea that later inspired the DB28. Mechanically, it debuts a perpetual calendar movement with aperture-style displays for day and month, a spherical moon phase, and sapphire hands, elements later adopted in the DB26. What remains exclusive to the DW2 is its minute repeater module paired with an ultra-lightweight 30-second tourbillon, crafted entirely from silicon and titanium.
An ode to innovation and lightness, the Dream Watch 3 is a tourbillon designed to seamlessly embrace the wrist. Crafted from silicon and titanium, it defies gravity: 63 components, weighing just 0.18 grams, rotating every 30 seconds, and beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour. The dial introduces the Microlight decoration, a modern engraving technique that reinterprets traditional guilloché. Through a delicate interplay of shadow and relief, it adds depth and character, offering a visual signature that is both technical and aesthetic.
A tribute to Steve Jobs, the Dream Watch 4 merges haute horlogerie with contemporary technology, featuring an avant-garde case sculpted from mirror-polished and bead-blasted titanium. A true shield, it protects both the smartphone and its user by reducing electromagnetic wave exposure. Inspired by spacecraft, it plays with light through a complex dial architecture that combines hand-polished blued titanium, white gold, and diamond-set stars. Its alternating convex and concave curves naturally draw the eye to the silvered hour and minute discs. Limited to only 12 pieces, this watch-sculpture embodies De Bethune’s visionary approach, transcending conventional codes to establish the timepiece as a true work of art.
A true wrist sculpture, the Dream Watch 5 continues the exploration of form, material, and color. Here, mechanics fade into the background, alloying the purity of design to take precedence. The functions—hours, minutes, and moon phases—become almost imperceptible. Over successive creations, the design has been refined in favor of a domed deltoid motif, a key element in both the collection’s aesthetic and De Bethune’s broader design language.
Forged from a meteorite that fell over 4,000 years ago in Campo del Cielo, the Dream Watch Meteorite is more than just a watch—it is a fragment of the cosmos, a mystery from infinity. Every detail of its case tells a story of stars and galaxies, sculpted from raw celestial material, hand-finished, and flame-blued to reveal its unique textures. Composed primarily of iron, nickel, and cobalt, this extraterrestrial metal defies traditional watchmaking techniques, requiring a complete rethinking of the crafting process. Suspended on the wrist like a shard of the universe, the Dream Watch Meteorite blends poetry, philosophy, and technical prowess, encapsulating a dialogue between time and eternity.
The sky has been imagined broader, deeper, more luminous… transcended. Today, the Dream Watch 6 is born—a unique piece created in close collaboration with Swiss artist Jörg Hysek, who reinterprets watchmaking codes with a fresh vision of the world. The concept is simple: bring the celestial landscape of De Bethune watches to life in a sculptural object, leveraging the volume of this clock to express and elevate it. More space, more depth—the De Bethune night sky becomes even more magical. Its increased scale enhances the perception of the cosmos, the moon finds a proportion that instinctively feels right, and the two spheres indicating hours and minutes interact dynamically with volume, creating a celestial ballet where planets, stars, and space unfold in perfect harmony.
A tribute to transparency and light, the Dream Watch 5 Tourbillon ‘Season 1’ is the result of a bold challenge set by American music star Swizz Beatz. Denis Flageollet and his team responded with audacity, pushing the boundaries of sapphire glass craftsmanship, titanium expertise, and horological virtuosity. The outcome: an extraordinary timepiece, mesmerizing in its technicality and singular aesthetic, visually minimalistic yet incredibly complex to create. An exclusive edition, limited to just 10 pieces.
The Dream Watch 5 Seeking Perfect represents the pinnacle of watchmaking pursuit—a delicate balance between technical mastery and material alchemy. Forged from iron ore sourced near the manufacture, it embodies an intimate connection between nature and human ingenuity. Every curve of its case and every detail in its construction reflect a profound understanding of materials, essential for both performance and aesthetics. A unique piece, it continues the tradition of visionary creations, offering a tangible expression of Denis Flageollet’s craftsmanship. Presented at Only Watch, it is not only a statement of horological excellence but also a tribute to the pioneers who have shaped the art of time.
The DW5 Al-Amal is more than just a watch—it is a time capsule, carrying a universal message of love and hope. Inspired by the calligraphic motifs of Dubai’s Museum of the Future, it celebrates the beauty of Arabic script by engraving six distinct calligraphies of the word “Love” onto its mirror-polished titanium case, each representing a unique expression of the sentiment. With its futuristic design, true to the Dream Watch DNA, it embodies a commitment to pushing both aesthetic and philosophical boundaries in watchmaking. The DW5 Al-Amal transforms time into art, engraving timeless emotions into metal and projecting a poetic and optimistic vision for the future.
Solar Wind celebrates the warm hues of sunset through De Bethune’s thermal oxidation of Grade 5 titanium and a hand polished mirror finish that brings out luminous yellows and nuanced tones. A modern freeform setting arranges 323 round sapphires in straw yellow, yellow, orange and red, plus an orange cabochon on the crown, creating a unique, multifaceted wrist sculpture that complements a highly sophisticated movement: tourbillon, spherical moon phase, and jumping hours.
